"Whenever I think of lace, whether knit or crochet, I think of Kristin. Her circular motifs are her signature and her lace crochet is becoming legendary. Kristin’s designs keep us all fans of knit and crochet lace. I can’t wait to make some of Kristin’s fabulous designs!"

ristin is the author of "Wrapped In Crochet", founder of www.styledbykristin.com and knit and crochet design company KRISTIN. When Kristin isn't knitting or crocheting (which isn't often) she enjoys fishing with her son, swimming, running, cooking and reading.

My designing process is varied, but often I am inspired by a texture I find while observing what is around me. Flowers, arrangements of bricks in a street, snakeskin, tiles in the hall of a 100 year old restaurant in Detroit, geometry, etc... From there, I like to pick up the yarn (with my hook or needles) and start playing with the yarn. Sometimes it works out right away, other times I find something else interesting from the swatching process. Occasionally I will write the pattern first, but I prefer what I call the "organic" process of creating first and documenting second.

I have a studio from which I work occasionally. I prefer to work outdoors most of the time. There is a coffee shop with outdoor seating and a waterfall that I love the most. Otherwise, I like to work in my garden, the beach, the park or poolside.

I really enjoy working with Naturally Caron Yarn. I especially enjoy working with SPA because it is a light dk weight yarn and equally as pretty and easy to work with in knitting or crochet. The yarn has a beautiful drape and looks lovely in lace, textured stitches or cables. Right now, I am working on a crochet project with a textured stitch using SPA. When I heard that the palette was specifically chosen so that any of the colors would compliment each color when worked together, I was skeptical. However, I was amazed to realize that it is true! One of my favorite combinations was the time I combined Green Sheen, Misty Taupe, Berry Frappe and Naturally for a 4 color crochet lace shawl.
