FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Each wristlet measures approximately 9"/23 cm long (unstretched), with an adjustable circumference

GAUGE

In pattern (unstretched), using J-10 (6 mm) hook, 16 sts and 16 rows = 4"/10cm.

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st)

NOTES

1. Wristlets are worked lengthwise as a flat rectangle, then seamed from the top (knuckle area) down, leaving a space for thumb opening.

2. The textured stitch used causes the stitches of the rectangle to lean, creating an interesting diagonal twist to the finished wristlet.

HELPFUL

Work the slip stitches loosely to maintain a stretchy fabric.

WRISTLET (make 2)

Ch 37.

Row 1: Working in back bump (along back side of foundation ch), sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—36 sl sts.

Row 2: Working in back loops only, ch 1, sl st in first st, *ch 1, sl st in next st; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, working in back loops only, *sl st in next st, sk next ch-1 sp; repeat from * across, turn.

Repeat last 2 rows until width of rectangle measures approximately 2"/5 cm less than circumference of hand at the knuckle area; end with a RS row. Do not fasten off.

Joining: Ch 1, fold rectangle (bringing foundation ch and last row together) so that the highly textured side is facing you, and join the edges as follows: working through both thicknesses (inserting hook through both loops of foundation ch and both loops of corresponding sl st of last row), [sl st in next st, ch 1] 7 times, sl st in next st; fasten off; sk next 5 sts for thumb opening, join yarn with sl st in next st, ch 1, *sl st in next st, ch 1; repeat from * across edge. Do not fasten off.

Wrist Edging

Change to smaller hook.

Round 1: Working in ends of rows around wrist edge, sc in end of each row around; join with with sl st in first sc.

Round 2: Sl st in next st, *ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), sl st in next 2 sts; repeat from * around.

Fasten off.

Hand Edging

With smaller hook, join yarn with sc in seam at hand edge, *sk end of next row, sc in end of next row; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
