KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

22"/56cm x 68"/172.5cm

 

GAUGE

In Stockinette stitch, using size 10 ½ (6.5mm) needles, 14 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10 cm

In Pattern, using size 10 ½ (6.5mm) needles, 20 sts and 28 rows = 4"/10 cm

 

STITCHES USED

Seed stitch (Seed st):

Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across.

Row 2: Knit the purl sts, purl the knit sts.

Rep Row 2 for seed st.

Tw2: K the 2nd st on needle, k the 1st st, slip both sts off needle.

C4L: Sl 2 sts to cn, hold to front, k2, k2 from cn.

C4R: Sl 2 sts to cn, hold to back, k2, k2 from cn.

Notes:

The cable is designed to slot where the opposite end of the wrap is inserted through the center wide cable.

The design is all over cables with a seed stitch border. Always slip first stitch as if to knit.

Helpful Hint:

It is helpful to use markers to indicate the cables.

 

WRAP

CO 108 sts.

Work 4 rows in seed st for border.

Est Patt:

Row 1 (RS): Work 4 seed sts, p2, Tw2, p2, k4, p4, *k8, p4, k4, p3, Tw2, p3, k4, p4; rep from * once more, end k8, p4, k4, p2, Tw2, p2, 4 seed sts.

Row 2: Work 4 seed sts, k2, p2, k2, p4, k4, p8, *k4, p4, k3, p2, k3, p4, k4, p8; rep from * once more, end k4, p4, k2, p2, k2, 4 seed sts.

Row 3: Work 4 seed sts, p2, Tw2, p2, C4L, p4, *(C4R, C4L) on next 8 sts, p4, C4L, p3, Tw2, p3, C4L, p4; rep from * once more, end (C4R, C4L) on next 8 sts, p4, C4L, p2, Tw2, p2, 4 seed sts.

Row 4: Rep Row 2.

Rep Rows 1-4 for patt. Work even until piece measures 10" from beg, ending with a WS row.

Slot Opening (to be worked in 3 separate sections and joined later):

First Section: Keeping to patt, work 46 sts, placing rem sts on a long holder. Continue in patt for 2", ending with a WS row. Place these 46 sts on a short holder.

Center Section: Work in patt across next 16 sts from long holder. Continue in patt for 2", ending on WS on same patt row as First Section. Place these 16 sts on a short holder.

Third Section: Work in patt across last 46 sts from long holder. Continue in patt for 2", ending on WS on same patt row as First and Center Sections. Place these 46 sts on a short holder.

Joining:

Next row (RS): Maintaining est patt, work 46 sts from First Section holder, 16 sts from Center Section holder, 46 sts from Third Section holder—108 sts. Continue in est patt until piece measures 50" from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shaping Point:

Note: Mark both sides with a safety pin.

Dec row (RS): Work 4 seed sts, work 2 sts tog, patt to last 6 sts, work 2 sts tog, 4 seed sts.

Maintaining the seed st border and est patt, dec 1 st inside the seed st edges every row until 16 sts rem.

Continue in patt on 16 sts until piece measures 68" from beg, ending with patt Row 4.

Work 4 rows in seed st for border.

BO.

 

FINISHING

Carefully work in ends of slot openings. To block, lay flat, spray with water, let dry.

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
