Chest 25 (26, 27, 28)"/63.5 (66, 68.5, 71)cm

Length 14 (15, 16, 17)"/35.5 (38, 40.5, 43)cm

 

GAUGE

In patt st, using U.S. size 10 (6 mm) needles, 18 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10 cm

 

PATTERN STITCH

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: *K1, p1; rep from * across.

Row 4: *P1, k1; rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1-4 for patt.

 

BACK

Using larger needles and two strands of MC held together, CO 60 (62, 64, 66) sts.

Work in patt until piece measures 9 ½ (10, 10 ½, 11)" from beg, end with a WS row.

Shape Armholes

BO 3 (4, 4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows—54 (54, 56, 58) sts.

Work even until armhole measures 4 ½ (5, 5 ½, 6)", end with a WS. BO all sts loosely.

 

LEFT FRONT

Using larger needles and two strands of MC held together, CO 28 (30, 32, 34) sts. Work in patt until piece measures 9 ½ (10, 10 ½, 11)" from beg, end with a WS row.

Shape Armhole

(RS) BO at armhole edge 3 (4, 4, 4) sts once. Work in patt until piece measures 12 (12 ½, 13, 13 ½)" from beg, end with a RS row.

Shape Neck

(WS) BO at beg of neck edge 4 (4, 5, 5) sts once, then 2 (2, 2, 3) sts once. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 (5, 5, 6) times—14 (15, 16, 16) sts.  Work even until armhole measures same as Back. BO rem sts.

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front, reversing all shaping

 

SLEEVES

Using larger needles and two strands MC held together, CO 30 (32, 32, 34) sts. Work in patt, inc 1 st each side every 6 rows 5 (5, 6, 6) times— 40 (42, 44, 46) sts.Work even until piece measures 9 (10, 11, 12)" from beg, end with a WS row.

Shape Cap

BO 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows—32 (34, 36, 38) sts. Dec 1 st each side every other row 7 (8, 9, 10) times—18 sts. BO 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. BO rem 14 sts.

 

FINISHING

Block pieces to measurements.  Sew shoulder seams. Set in Sleeves; sew side and Sleeve seams.

Button Band

With RS facing, using smaller needles and two strands of MC held together, pick up 58 (62, 66, 70) sts along Left Front edge. Work in k1, p1 rib for 7 rows. BO in rib.

Buttonhole Band

With RS facing, using smaller needles and two strands of MC held together, pick up 58 (62, 66, 70) sts along Right Front edge. Work in k1, p1 rib for 2 rows.

Place markers for 3 (3, 3, 4) buttonholes evenly spaced with first one ½" from beg of neck edge.

Buttonhole row: *Rib to marker, k2tog, yo; rep from * across rem markers, rib to end.

Continue in k1, p1 rib for 4 more rows. BO in rib. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.

Loop Collar: With RS facing, using smaller needles and one strand each of A and B held together, pick up 30 (30, 32, 34) sts around neck edge. Work in loop st as follows:

Loop St: Row 1: * K1, leaving st on left needle, bring yarn to front between needles, wrap around left thumb, move yarn back between needles, knit the st again; slip st from left needle to right needle, lift 2nd st on right needle over last st worked as if to BO; rep from * across row.

Row 2: Knit.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 for 1 ½", ending with Row 1. BO on Row 2.
