FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Wrap measures approximately 18"/45.5cm wide x 66"/167.5cm long, including border

GAUGE

In pattern, Motif = 4"/10cm, measured across one side.

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), treble crochet (tr),

SPECIAL TERM

bobble Ch 2, yarn over, insert hook in back loop 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), [yarn over insert hook in same ch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (1 additional loop on hook)] 5 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Gently push bobble to RS, sl st in same ch.

motif-join—Insert hook in corresponding ch-sp of neighboring motif, yarn over and draw through the ch-sp and the loop on hook.

NOTES

1. Each motif is worked in the round with the RS facing. Motifs are joined together as the last round is worked. Hide ends as you work.

2. For heirloom quality finishing and to reduce bulk, before tying knots separate the plys of the tail in half, by twisting yarn in the opposite direction from which it was spun. Wrap one strand through the back loop of the last stitch worked and then knot. Then weave both strands through the back loops of the last four stitches worked. When the next round is worked, these tails will be covered. Cut remaining ends of tails after next round is complete.

MOTIF (make 112)

First Motif

With A, chain 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 (RS): Ch 1, *(sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc) in ring (clover-shaped leaf made); repeat from * 2 more times; join with sl st in first sc—3 clover-shaped leaves. Fasten off.

With RS facing, draw up a loop of B in first sc of Round 1.

Round 2: With B, ch 4 (counts as tr here and throughout), 2 dc in next hdc, hdc in next dc, sc in next tr, hdc in next dc, 2 dc in next hdc, *tr in next sc, 2 dc in next hdc, hdc in next dc, sc in next tr, hdc in next dc, 2 dc in next hdc; repeat from * once more; join with sl st in top of beginning ch—24 sts. Fasten off.

With RS facing, draw up a loop of C in top of beginning ch of Round 2.

Round 3: With C, ch 1, *sc in next tr, hdc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next hdc, 3 tr in next sc, 2 dc in next hdc, hdc in next 2 dc; repeat from * 2 more times; join with sl st in first sc—36 sts. Fasten off.

With RS facing, draw up a loop of A in the first sc of Round 3.

Round 4: With A, ch 1, *sc in next sc, sc in next hdc, ch 1, sk next hdc, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next tr, (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in next tr, ch 1, sk next tr, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, ch 1, sk next hdc, sc in next hdc; repeat from * 2 more times; join with sl st in first sc—36 sts, 3 corner ch-2 sp, and 12 ch-1 sp.

Joined Motifs

Note: The remaining motifs are worked the same as the first motif, except when working Round 4 each motif is joined to neighboring motifs. Make and join the motifs into sixteen rows of seven motifs each, as shown in assembly diagram.

Work same as First Motif through Round 3.

With RS facing, draw up a loop of A in the first sc of Round 3.

Notes:

1.Refer to assembly diagram to determine placement of motif and to identify the neighboring motif(s), before working Round 4.

2. If there is a neighboring motif along the side being worked, work motif-join (see definition above) instead of ch-1 to join the current motif to the neighboring motif.

3. At corners, work a motif-join following the ch 2 of the (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) corner, joining the current motif to the corner ch-2 sp of the neighboring motif (only join to one neighboring motif at corner).

4. Hold motifs with WS together and work with the RS facing you.

Round 4 (joining round): With A, ch 1, *sc in next sc, sc in next hdc, ch 1 or motif-join (if there is a neighboring motif), sk next hdc, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1 or motif-join, sk next tr, (2 tr, ch 2, motif-join (if there is a neighboring motif), 2 tr) in next tr, ch 1 or motif-join, sk next tr, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, ch 1 or motif join, sk next hdc, sc in next hdc; repeat from * 2 more times; join with sl st in first sc.

FINISHING

Border

Note: When working the border, work only in stitches and ch-sps of Round 4. Do not work into motif joining stitches (that form a seam between motifs).

Join A with sl st in any stitch along outside edge of wrap.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join, sk next 2 sts, *(3 dc, bobble, 3 dc) in next st, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts; repeat from * around outside edge, end with (3 dc, bobble, 3 dc) in next st, sk next 2 sts; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block wrap, if desired.
