STITCHES USED Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st)
SPECIAL TERMS 2-dc Cl: 3 double crochet cluster—Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; yarn over, insert hook in same st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook]twice; yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. 3-dc Cl: 3 double crochet cluster—Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; [yarn over, insert hook in same st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice; yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook. dc3tog: Double crochet 3 together—[Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (one leg of dc3tog made)] 3 times; yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook (dc3tog completed). Note: In this design, the dc3tog is worked over 3 sts with a ch-1 left unworked between each leg of the dc3tog. Take care to skip a ch-1 between each leg of the dc3tog, as instructed.
NOTES 1. The Tunic is worked from the top downwards. First, motifs are made and joined into a ring. The ring is then divided (with markers) into stitches for the front, back, and two sleeves. Stitches are then worked across the front and back stitches (skipping the sleeve stitches) and a lacy chevron pattern worked downwards to a lower band of motifs. 2. A second ring of motifs is made for a lower band, and joined to the lower edge of the body. 3. The lower edging is worked around the lower band. 4. Each motif is joined to the side of the previous motif while Round 3 (the motif joining round) is worked. When working the lower band of motifs, each motif is joined to the previous motif and 5 ch-sps of the lower edge of the body. 5. The sleeves are worked in the lacy chevron pattern, directly onto the armholes, once the body is complete.
YOKE First Motif Note: Work with smaller hook for sizes S, L and 2X, with larger hook for sizes M, 1X and 3X. Ch 5; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
