GAUGE

In Stockinette stitch, using US size 9 (5.5 mm) needles 16 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10 cm

Reverse Stockinette stitch (Rev St st)

BACK

Using smaller straight needles and MC, cast on 80 (86, 92, 98) sts.

(RS) Work in k2, p2 rib until piece measures 4 (4, 5, 5)" from beginning, end with a WS row.

Change to larger straight needles and St st .Work even until piece measures 13(14, 15, 16)" from beginning, end with a WS row.

Shape Armholes

(RS) Bind off 5 sts at beginning of next 2 rows -- 70 (76, 82, 88) sts remain. Put on a holder.

 

FRONT

Using smaller straight needles and MC, cast on 80 (86, 92, 98) sts.

(RS) Work in k2, p2 rib until piece measures 4 (4, 5, 5)" from beginning, end with a WS row.

Change to larger straight needles and Start cable pattern;

Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 15 and 17:  K 32 (35, 38, 41); p2, k12, p2; k32 (35, 38, 41).

Row 9: K32 (35, 38, 41); p2, slip 6 sts onto cn, hold in back, k6, k6 from cn, p2; k32 (35, 38, 41). 

All even rows K the k sts, p the p sts.

Work even until piece measures 13 (14, 15, 16)" from beginning, ending with a WS row.

Shape Armholes

(RS) Bind off 5 sts at beginning of next 2 rows -- 70 (76, 82 88) sts remain. Put on a holder.

 

SLEEVES

Using smaller straight needles, MC, cast on 46 (46, 48, 48) sts.

(RS) Work in k2, p2 rib until piece measures 4 (4, 5, 5)" from beginning, end with WS row.

Change to larger straight needles and St st  

Shape Sleeve

(RS) Beginning this row, inc 1 st each side, then every 6 (6, 4, 4) rows 12 (12, 14, 14) times in all -- 70 (70, 76, 76) sts.

Work even until piece measures 16 (16 1/2, 17, 17)" from the beginning, ending with a WS row.

Shape Cap

(RS) Bind off 5 sts at beginning of next 2 rows – 60 (60, 66, 66) sts. Put on a holder.

Yoke: Using larger circular needle and working stitches as they face you, k the k sts, p the p sts of front 70 (76, 82 88) front sts, pm (place marker), k60 (60, 66, 66) sts from one sleeve holder, pm, k70 (76, 82 88) sts from back holder, pm, k60 (60, 66, 66) sts from other sleeve – 260 (272, 296, 308) sts.

Dec 1 st before and after each marker as follows: K to 3 sts before marker slip 1, k1, psso, k1, sm (slip marker), k1, k2tog; repeat from * across all markers, work to end of round (8 decs worked). Repeat this dec round every other round 8 (9, 12, 13) times more – 188 (192, 192, 196) sts.

Working in-the-round remove all markers except marker at beginning of round and place a marker before and after the 16-st cable pattern.

Work in k3, p3 rib to marker before cable, sm, work 16-st cable, sm, work in k3, p3 rib to end of round.

Work 6 rounds as established.

Dec round: Work in established rib to marker before cable working (p2tog, p1 = 1 dec) in each p rib, sm, work 16-st cable, sm, work in established rib to end of round working (p2tog, p1 = 1 dec) in each p rib. Work in established pattern, working (k3, p2) in each rib and 16-st cable for 6 more rnds.

Dec round: Work in established rib to marker before cable working (k1, k2tog, p2 = 1 dec) in each k rib, sm, work 16-st cable, sm, work in established rib to end of round working (k1, k2tog, p2 = 1 dec) in each k rib.

Work established pattern, working (k2, p2) in each rib and 16-st cable for 6 more rounds.

Dec round: Work in established rib to marker before cable working (k2, p2tog = 1 dec) in each k rib, sm, work 16-st cable, sm, work in established rib to end of round working (k2, p2tog  = 1 dec) in each k rib.

Work in established pattern, working (k2, p1) in each rib and 16-st cable for 8” more.

Bind off loosely in rib pattern.

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
