One pair US size 5 (3.75mm) 24"/61cm long circular needles or size to obtain gauge

Approx 15"/38cm wide x 48"/122cm in diameter

 

GAUGE

In patt st, 25 sts and 40 rows = 4"/10cm

 

NOTE

Piece is worked in rounds. Before beg first rnd, make sure all cast on sts are straight, then rotate one end once. After completing 2-3 rnds, check the twist.

 

SCARF

Color C Border:

With C, CO 300 sts. See note.

Rnd 1: *K3, p3, rep from * to end. Mark end of rnd.

Rnds 2-4: Rep rnd 1 (3 times).

Rnd 5: *P3, k3, rep from * to end.

Rnds 6-8: Rep rnd 5 (3 times).

Rnds 9-12: Rep rnd 1 (4 times).

Break off C and join B.

 

Color B Band:

Rnd 1: *K3, p3, rep from * to end.

Rnd 2: P1, *k3, p3, rep from * to last 5 sts, k3, p2.

Rnd 3: P2, *k3, p3, rep from * to last 4 sts, k3, p1.

Rnd 4: P3, *k3, p3, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.

Rnd 5: K1, p3, *k3, p3, rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.

Rnd 6: K2, p3, *k3, p3, rep from * to last st, k1.

Rnd 7-12: Rep rnds 1-6 once

Rnd 13: Rep rnd 1.

Break off B and join A.

 

Color A Band:

Rnd 1: *K6, p6, rep from * to end.

Rnd 2: K all sts.

Rnds 3-10: Rep rnds 1 and 2 (4 times).

Rnd 11: P all sts.

Rnd 12: *K6, p6, rep from * to end.

Rnds 13-20: Rep rnds 11 and 12 (4 times).

Rnd 21: P all sts.

Rnd 22: K all sts.

Rep rnds 1-22 (3) more times.

Next Rnd: *K6, p6, rep from * to end.

Next Rnd: K all sts.

Next Rnd: *K6, p6, rep from * to end.

Rep these last 2 rnds 3 more times.

Break off A and join B.

Rep Color B Band .

Break off B and join C.

Rep Color C Border.

BO in patt.

Break off C.

 

FINISHING

With yarn needle, weave in all ends.
