NOTES Circular needles are used for large number of sts required per row, not for knitting in the round. Collar is worked in one piece that will fold over itself and be worn doubled. Using different sized needles will create the desired shaping, and therefore there is no shaping in the stitch pattern.
GAUGE In blocked lace stitch, using US size 8 (5mm) needles,13 sts = 4”/10 cm
STITCHES USED Modified feather and fan stitch pattern (multiple of 24 sts) Row 1: *K12, p12; repeat from *. Row 2: *K2tog twice, (yo, k1) 4 times, k2tog, p2tog twice, (yo, p1) 4 times, p2tog twice; repeat from *. Row 3: Repeat Row 1. Row 4: *P12, k12; repeat from *. Repeat Rows 1-4 for pat.
COLLAR With size US 8 needles, CO 156 sts. Knit 2 rows. Row 1: *K12, p12; repeat from * across to last 12 sts, k12. Row 2: *P12, k12; repeat from * across to last 12 sts, p12. Row 3: *K2tog twice, (yo, k1) 4 times, k2tog twice, p2tog twice, (yo, p1) 4 times, p2tog twice; repeat from * across to last 12 sts, k2tog twice, (yo, k1) 4 times, k2tog twice. Row 4: Repeat Row 2. Row 5 - 20: Repeat Rows 1 - 4 four more times. Change to size US 5 needles Rows 21 - 40: Repeat Rows 1- 4 five times. Change to size US 10.5 needles. Rows 41 - 82: Repeat Rows 1- 4 eight times. I-CORD TIE With dpn needles, CO 5 sts. Row 1: Slide sts down to the other end of the knitting needle, k5. Repeat Row 1 until I-cord measures 38” long. K4tog. Fasten off.
FINISHING Block neck tie to finished measurements (see schematic). Weave in loose ends. Fold collar in half lengthwise, around Row 30 (halfway through the section with the smallest needles). Weave the I-cord through both sections through the eyelet (yarn over holes) of the lace row one repeat below the fold line.
