In Stockinette stitch, 19 sts and 24 rows = 4"/10 cm

SKP: slip 1, knit 1, psso.

Garter stitch: Garter st

Stockinette stitch: St st

Garter st pattern: 

Row 1 (RS): *K1, yo, k7, k3tog, k7, yo; repeat from * end k1.

Row 2: *P2, k15, p1; repeat from * end p1.

Rows 3-14: Repeat Rows 1-2 six more times.

Start Leaf pattern:

Row 15: *(K1, yo) twice, SKP, k4, k3tog, k4, k2tog, yo, k1, yo; repeat from * end k1.

Row 16: *P5, k9, p4; repeat from *, end p1.

Row 17: *K1, yo, k3, yo, SKP, k2, k3tog, k2, k2tog, yo, k3, yo; repeat from * end k1.

Row 18: *P7, k5, p6; repeat from *,  end p1.

Row 19: *K1, yo, k5, yo, SKP k3tog, k2tog, yo, k5, yo; repeat from *, end k1.

BACK

With size 8 needles, cast on 109 (127) sts.

Work Rows 1-14 of Garter St pattern, then Rows 15-34 of Leaf pattern.

Start Lace pattern:

Rows 1-6: Work in St st.   

Row 7: *K6, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, SKP, k5; repeat from *, end k1.

Rows 8, 10: Purl.

Row 9: *K5, K2tog, yo, k5, yo, SKP, k4; repeat from *, end k1.

Row 11:*K4, K2tog, yo, k7, yo, SKP, k3; repeat from *, end k1.

Row 12: Purl.

Work in St st until desired length to waist, end with a WS row.

Waistband row (RS): K1 *yo, k2tog; repeat from across row. Note: This row is for drawstring waistband.

Work in Lace pattern until piece measures 18 ½ (19)" from beg, end with a WS row.

Shape Armholes

Maintaining Lace pattern, bind off 5 (8) sts at beg of next 2 rows -- 99 (111) sts.

Dec 1 st each side every other row 14 (18) times -- 71 (75) sts.

Work even until armhole measures 8 ½ (10)", end with a WS row.

Bind off all sts loosely.

LEFT FRONT

With size 8 needles, cast on 55 (73) sts.

Work as for Back until piece measures 13” from beg, end with a RS row.

Shape neck and armhole:

Maintaining pattern, dec 1 st at neck edge on next row, then every 6th (4th) row 13 (21) times; AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures same as Back to underarm, bind off 5 (8 ) sts at armhole edge once, then dec 1 st at armhole edge every other row 14 (18) times. Work even until armhole measures same as Back to shoulder. Bind off remaining 22 (25) sts.

 

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front, reversing all shaping.

 

FINISHING

Block pieces to measurements.  Sew shoulder seams. Set in Sleeves; sew Sleeve and side seams.

Front edge band:

With RS facing, using size 6 circular needle, pick up and knit 114 (122) sts along Right Front edge, 28 sts across Back neck and 114 (122) sts down Left Front edge.

Edge Pattern:Rows 1 and 3: Purl. Row 2: K1, *yo, k2tog; repeat from *, end k1.

Row 4: Knit. Row 5: Bind off loosely in knit.

Armhole Band:

With RS facing, using size 6 circular needle, pick up and k 64 (70) sts around armhole edge. Do not join. Workback and forth in Edge pattern same as Front edge band.

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.

Drawstring: With crochet hook and two strands of yarn held together, make a chain 60” or desired length.
