GAUGE

In Body Pat with 3 strands of yarn held tog, 12 sts = 4”/10 cm; 19 rows = 5”/12.5 cm

 

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

MK (make knot over 3 sts): Insert RH needle into next 3 sts and purl them together leaving these sts on LH needle, yarn to back and knit the same 3 sts together leaving them on LH needle, then yarn to front and purl the same 3 sts together slipping them to RH needle.

 

BACK

Holding 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC tog, cast on 53 (59, 65, 71, 77, 83) sts. 

K 1 row. 

P 1 row. 

Body Pat:

Row 1 (RS): K5 (8, 7, 6, 5, 8); *MK, k5: rep from * across, ending MK, k5 (8, 7, 6, 5, 8). 

Rows 2-8: Beg and ending with a purl row, work 7 rows St st. 

Row 9: K1 (4, 3, 2, 1, 4); *MK, k5; rep from * across, ending MK, k1 (4, 3, 2, 1, 4). Rows 10-16: Beg and ending with a purl row, work 7 rows St st. 

Rep Rows 1-16 for pat until piece measures 12” from beg, end WS row.

Shape Armholes

Bind off 7 (8, 10, 11, 13, 15) sts at beg of next 2 rows.  Work even on rem 39 (43, 45, 49, 51, 53) sts until piece measures 19 1/2 (20, 20 1/2, 21, 21 1/2, 22)” from beg, end WS row.  Bind off all sts.

 

RIGHT FRONT

With 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC, cast on 30 (33, 36, 39, 42, 45) sts.

K 1 row. 

Next Row:  P22 (25, 28, 31, 34, 37) sts, (k1, p1) 4 times. 

Body Pat: Row 1 (RS): (K1, p1) 4 times, k2 (5, 0, 3, 6, 1); *MK, k5; rep from * across, ending MK, k1.

Shape V-Neck and Armhole

Dec Row (RS): Rib 8, ssk, pat to end.  Rep Dec Row every 4th row 2 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5) times more, then every other row 11 (10, 11, 10, 11, 10) times; AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 12” from beg, shape armhole as follows: Bind off 7 (8, 10, 11, 13, 15) sts at beg of WS row. Cont in pat until piece measures same as Back, end WS row.  Bind off rem 9 (11, 11, 13, 13, 14) sts for shoulder.

 

LEFT FRONT

With 2 strands MN and 1 strand CC, cast on 30 (33, 36, 39, 42, 45) sts.

K 1 row.

Next Row: (P1, k1) 4 times, p22 (25, 28, 31, 34, 37) sts. 

Body Pat: Row 1 (RS): K1; *MK, k5; rep from * across, ending MK, k2 (5, 0, 3, 6, 1), rib 8. 

Rows 2-8: Beg and ending with a purl row, work 7 rows St st. 

Row 9: *K5, MK; rep from * across, ending k5 (0, 3, 6, 1, 4), rib 8. 

Row 10-16: Beg and ending with a purl row, work 7 rows St st.

Rep Rows 1-16 as est until piece measures 9 1/2” from beg, end WS row.

Shape V-Neck and Armhole

Dec Row (RS): Pat across to last 10 sts, k2tog, rib to end.  Rep Dec Row every 4th row 2 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5) times more, then every other row 11 (10, 11, 10, 11, 10) times; AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 12” from beg, shape armhole as follows: Bind off 7 (8, 10, 11, 13, 15) sts at beg of RS row. Cont in pat until piece measures same as Back, end WS row. Bind off rem 9 (11, 11, 13, 13, 14) sts for shoulder.

 

SLEEVES

Join shoulder seams.  Leaving bound-off sts at underarms free, with RS facing and 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC, pick up and k43 (45, 49, 51, 55, 57) sts evenly around armhole. 

Row 1 (WS): (P1, k1) across, ending p1.

Row 2: (K1, p1) across, ending k1. 

Rep last 2 rows until sleeve measures 10” from beg, end WS row. 

Inc Row 1: K1, M1, rib across, ending M1, k1. 

Inc Row 2: P1, M1, (p1, k1) across, ending p1, M1, p1. 

Cont rib on 47 (49, 53, 55, 59, 61) sts until Sleeve measures 16 (16 1/2, 17, 17 1/2, 18, 18 1/2)” from beg, ending WS.  Bind off in ribbing. 

Place markers 2 1/4 (2 3/4, 3 1/4, 3 3/4, 4 1/4, 5)” each side of sleeve.  Sew bound-off sts from marker to pick up row on each side. Join underarm and side seams. 

 

COLLAR

Place a marker 3 1/2" down from shoulder seam on each front. With RS facing using 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC, beg at marker on right front, pick up and k12 sts evenly to shoulder, 21 (21, 23, 23, 25, 25) sts along back neck, and 12 sts from shoulder to marker – 45 (45, 47, 47, 49, 49) sts. 

Row 1 (RS): (K1, p1) across, ending k1. 

Row 2: (P1, k1) across, ending p1. 

Row 3: K1, M1, rib across, ending M1, k1. 

Row 4: P1, M1, rib across, ending M1, p1 -- 49 (49, 51, 51, 53, 53) sts. 

Rows 5-8: Rep Rows 1-2. 

Rows 9-10: Rep Rows 3-4 -- 53 (53, 55, 55, 57, 57) sts.

Rows 11-14: Rep Rows 1-2.

Rows 15-16: Rep Rows 3-4 -- 57 (57, 59, 59, 61, 61) sts . 

Rows 17-26 (28, 30, 32, 34, 36): Rep Rows 1-2. 

Bind off loosely in ribbing.

 

FINISHING

With RS facing using 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC, with crochet hook, beg at left front edge below collar and work 47 (49, 50, 52, 53, 55) slip sts evenly spaced; turn.  Ch 1, slip st in each slip st and fasten off. 

With RS facing using 2 strands MC and 1 strand CC, with crochet hook, beg at right front lower edge and work 47 (49, 50, 52, 53, 55) slip sts evenly spaced; turn. Ch 1, slip st in first 14 (16, 17, 18, 20, 21) slip sts, ch 6, skip 5 slip sts, slip st in each rem slip st to end and fasten off. 

Sew button opposite button loop.  Weave in loose ends.
