Scarf measures approximately 5"/12.5cm wide x 62"/157.5cm long, excluding fringe

 

GAUGE

One motif measures approximately 3 3/4 x 3 3/4"/9.5 x 9.5cm.

Gauge is not critical for this project

 

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), treble crochet (tr)

 

NOTES

1. Squares are crocheted separately and may be either sewn or crocheted together. 

2. Border as shown varies in color but may be done in one color, if desired.

3. To change color, fasten off old color at the end of a round. Join new color in indicated st or sp at beginning of next round.

Ch 5; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, [sc in ring, ch 7] 7 times, sc in ring; join with ch 3, dc in first sc (joining ch 3, dc counts as a ch-7 sp)—8 sc and 8 ch-7 sps.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first ch-7 sp (formed by join), [ch 4, sc in next ch-7 sp] 7 times, ch 4; join with sl st in first sc—8 sc and 8 ch-4 sps.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, [ch 3, sc in next ch-4 sp, ch 3, sc in next sc] 7 times, ch 3, sc in next ch-4 sp; join with ch 1, hdc in first sc (joining ch 1, hdc counts as a ch-3 sp—16 sc and 16 ch-3 sps.

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in first ch-3 sp (formed by join), [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp] 15 times, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc.

Round 5: Ch 3, (tr, ch 2, tr, dc) in same sc as join (corner made), *3 hdc in next ch-3 sp, [sc in next sc, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp] twice, sc in next sc, 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp, (dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc) in next sc (corner made); repeat from * 2 more times, 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp, [sc in next sc, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp] twice, sc in next sc, 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp; join with sl st in top of beginning ch. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Sew or sl st motifs together in the following order:

Combo: 1-2-3-4-5-6-1-2-3-4-3-5-1-6-5-6. Note Motifs may be arranged in any preferred sequence.

Edging: Using contrasting edge color(s) of your choice, join yarn in edge of scarf, ch 1, sc evenly around entire edge of scarf; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Fringe: With RS facing, join C in a corner of the scarf, *ch 30, turn, sl st in each ch across, sl st in next sc of short end of scarf; repeat from * across short end of scarf.  Repeat across opposite short end of scarf. 

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block scarf.
