Shape Sleeves (RS) Beginning this row, inc 1 st (see Notes) at beginning of next 42 (42, 42, 48, 56) rows, end with a WS row—83 (85, 87, 95, 105) sts. (RS) Cast on 5 (6, 7, 9, 12) sts at beginning of next 2 rows—93 (97, 101, 113, 129) sts. Shape Neck (RS) At neck edge, inc 1 st every 4 rows 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) times, then every other row 10 (10, 10, 10, 11) times—12 (12, 12, 13, 14) sts increased for neck. Work 1 row even, ending with a WS row. Buttonholes (RS) Work across to last 5 sts at center Front; bind off 2 sts, work to end. (WS) Work to bound off sts, cast on 2 sts, work to end. Work remaining buttonholes every 1 1/2 (1 1/2, 2, 2, 2 1/2)" while completing sleeve shaping. AT THE SAME TIME, when sleeve edge measures 2 1/2 (2 1/2, 2 1/2, 3, 3)" from shoulder marker [5 (5, 5, 6, 6)" total from last sleeve cast on row], end with a WS row at sleeve edge. FINISHING Sew side and sleeve seams. Using yarn needle, weave in all ends; sew buttons opposite buttonholes.
HAT Using one strand of each color held together, cast on 49 (57, 61, 65, 67) sts. (RS) Begin Seed st; work even until piece measures 4 1/2 (5, 5, 5 1/2, 6)" from beginning, end with a WS row. Bind off all sts loosely in patt.
FINISHING Join short ends for center Back seam. With RS's facing each other and seam at center Back, join top of Hat. Tassels Hold 1 strand of each color together; wrap yarn around a 2 1/2" piece of cardboard 25 times. Using yarn needle, run thread through loops at one end and tie loops together tightly. Slip tassel off cardboard; do NOT cut loops at opposite end from tie. Sew one tassel to each corner at top of Hat.
Using yarn needle, weave in ends. |
