FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Scarf measures approximately 8 1/2"/ 21.5 cm wide x 60"/152 cm long, excluding fringe

 

GAUGE

In single crochet, 15 sts and 19 rows = 4"/10 cm.

Gauge is not critical for this project.

 

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st), treble crochet (tr),

 

SPECIAL TERMS

tr-Cl: Treble cluster—Yarn over twice, *insert hook in ch-4 space, yarn over and draw up a loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, leaving last loop of tr unworked] twice; repeat from * 2 more times in same ch-4 space; yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

shell: (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated stitch or space.

V-st: (dc, ch 4, dc) in indicated stitch or space.

 

NOTE

The Strawberry pattern is a petite version of its larger cousin, the pineapple.

 

SCARF

Chain 37.

Row 1: (3 dc, ch 2, 3dc) in fourth ch from hook, *ch 4, skip next 7 ch, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next ch (V-st made), ch 4, skip next 7 ch, (3 dc, ch 2, 3dc) in next ch (shell made); repeat from * across, dc in last ch, turn—3 shells and 2 V-sts.

Row 2: Ch 2, *shell in ch-2 space of next shell, ch 2, skip next ch-4 space, ([tr-Cl, ch 3] 3 times, tr-Cl) in ch-4 space of next V-st, ch 2, skip next ch-4 space; repeat from * across to last shell, shell in ch-2 space of last shell, dc in top of turning ch, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, *shell in ch-2 space of next shell, skip next ch-2 space, [ch 3, skip next tr-Cl, 2 sc in next ch-3 space] 3 times, ch 3, skip next ch-2 space; repeat from * across to last shell, shell in ch-2 space of last shell, dc in top of turning ch, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, *shell in ch-2 space of next shell, ch 4, skip next ch-3 space, 2 sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 2 sc in next ch-3 space, ch 4, skip next ch-3 space; repeat from * across to last shell, shell in ch-2 space of last shell, dc in top of turning ch, turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, *shell in ch-2 space of next shell, ch 4, skip next ch-4 space, V-st in next ch-3 space, ch 4, skip next ch-4 space; repeat from * across to last shell, shell in ch-2 space of last shell, dc in top of turning ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2–5 until piece measures approximately 60"/152.5 cm from beginning, end with a Row 2. Do not fasten off.

Chain Loop Fringe

Working across last row of scarf, *ch 30, slip st in next st; repeat from * across. Fasten off. Working along opposite side of foundation chain, join yarn with slip st in first st, *ch 30, slip st in next st; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
